It’s come to my attention that this email is getting lost in some of your spam filters. No bueno. Before I go on, please take a moment and hit reply, type any combination of letters you like, and then hit “send” … if you don’t, I’ll worry and wonder if you’re alive (I realize this is dramatic, I’m conditioned to speak this way through years of parental catholic guilt and I apologize) Also, a good* prize awaits the best reply.
There’s a lot of business to attend to this month, more than usual, and usually, we keep pretty busy so I’ll get to it. This month’s theme is IDENTITY. The speaker was identified by my friend Susie Underwood who is organizing the 2020 Creative Fusion Artist Residency with the Cleveland Foundation. Their theme is The Art of Democracy, conducting a series of projects interwoven with efforts to increase participation in the 20 censuses and election cycle. Unrelated, 2020 is also an Olympic year… If you feel like adding Olympic Hopeful as part of your personal identity, it seems fair game, like declaring yourself an “aspiring Oscar winner” or “house-broken.” There are no forms to fill out, only a destiny to fulfill.
The purpose of this email each month is to ask for help. YOUR HELP. There is a list of things below you can check out and raise your hand for, but this is the big stuff:
1. We didn’t have a designer volunteer to make a quote card last month. Does anybody here want to design a #Quotecard from Marko’s talk? If not I’ll print a back catalog that’s out of print this month.
2. There’s an EVENING event this Thursday. I’m bartending the art opening at Phoenix Coffee on Bridge. You should come, and tell a friend and bring a friend. And buy a drink, buy 10 drinks… I need to spend about $4k on a new PA. The PA I’ve been using for the last 5 years on CreativeMornings is in very rough shape, and I’d like to get something good that can also be used to throw some rooftop / urban garden happy hour concerts this summer. This is definitely happening one way or another, the first rooftop happy hour date is Friday, May 22nd in battery park. I’ll announce it officially at CM next week. But come on Thursday! 3. Photographer, Lindsey Poyar will be set up to take headshots of attendees at CM this month. It has been a couple of years since we’ve done this but with the theme Identity, it seemed a good idea to do it again. I mention it now so you can all make double sure that you’re dressed your best for the 20th.
