ABOUT THE SPEAKER:Â
Doris Korda is the Founder & CEO of Korda Institute for Teaching, working with schools to transform teaching and learning. Adopted in schools from Cleveland to Kazakhstan, Korda’s teaching methods and school change process has empowered thousands of students in urban and rural school districts around the world. Prior to her 26 years as an educator, Doris spent 15 years as a systems engineer-turned-tech entrepreneur, turning a small network business into a $1B publicly traded company. Korda developed Hawken School’s globally recognized entrepreneurial studies program, designed the Mastery School of Hawken’s curriculum and teaching methods, and is the co-originator of the Mastery Transcript Consortium, an initiative to change the high school transcript to reflect the unique skills, strengths, and interests of each learner. Korda’s work has been featured in TED Talks; in educational journals such as Childhood Education and Getting Smart; as well as in news outlets such as Forbes, The Wall Street Journal and The Huffington Post.
