Nature Center at Shaker Lakes

The Nature Center at Shaker Lakes conserves a 20-acre natural area in the heart of Shaker Heights, with about two miles of trails open dawn to dusk. It was founded in 1966 by a grassroots community effort that stopped a freeway from cutting through the Shaker Parklands, and its building opened in 1969.

Its mission is to conserve a natural area, connect people with nature and inspire environmental stewardship; more than 17,000 children take part in its school programs each year.
