Cleveland Foundation

Greater Cleveland's community foundation

About the organization

The Cleveland Foundation is the world's first community foundation and one of the largest today. Frederick Harris Goff, a Cleveland lawyer and banker, founded it in 1914 so people could give back to their community in a lasting way: gifts are invested to grow over time and meet the region's changing needs across generations.

Through grantmaking, investments and leadership, the foundation supports nonprofits and residents in Cuyahoga, Lake and Geauga counties, with a mission to make the lives of Clevelanders better, now and for generations to come. Its headquarters is at 6601 Euclid Avenue in Cleveland.
