National Interstate Insurance

National Interstate Insurance is a specialty insurer for the transportation industry, headquartered in Richfield, Ohio, with an office in Kapolei, Hawaii. Formed in 1989 with Great American as an investor to serve passenger transportation companies, it now covers ambulance, bus, trucking, towing, waste, energy, forestry and moving and storage operations, along with collector cars and specialty products for Hawaii and Alaska. Its subsidiary Vanliner Insurance dates to 1978.

National Interstate is part of Great American Insurance Group, whose companies are subsidiaries of Cincinnati's American Financial Group. It is licensed in all 50 states and rated A+ (Superior) by AM Best. In the community it supports the American Heart Association, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, the Akron Marathon Series and the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank.
