Squash The Beef

Squash the Beef is a Cleveland vegan comfort food business run by owners Kurtis Williams and Candace Maiden, who turned their own plant-based journey into a mission to make bold vegan versions of classic American and Southern comfort food. They have been serving since 2019.

The kitchen operates inside Yum Village at 2207 Chester Avenue, and the Squash the Beef food buggy pops up at events around Cleveland, including the Waterloo Vegan Marketplace and VegFests in Ohio, Pennsylvania and Michigan. The business also caters weddings, parties and corporate events with buffet-style service and drop-offs, and its kale and peach mango lemonades are sold at Meijer Fairfax Market.
