About the organization
Since 1977, the West Side Catholic Center has offered hot meals, hospitality, clothing and household goods, emergency services, advocacy, a family shelter, housing support and workforce development training to people in need, at no charge and regardless of religious affiliation. Several area churches founded it after seeing a critical need in the community due to extreme poverty.
The center is a private nonprofit with Catholic roots, independent of the Diocese and Catholic Charities. From its home at 3135 Lorain Avenue in Ohio City, it serves men, women and children across Greater Cleveland, and since 2010 it has built trauma-informed care into all of its work.
