Floco Torres

Hip-hop musician and graphic designer

Floco Torres (pronounced Flock-o) is a hip-hop musician, producer and graphic designer based in Akron, Ohio, and 38 projects deep into his solo career. A New Jersey native, he moved to Georgia in 2008 and recorded and performed steadily there before relocating to Akron in 2017 to work for the arts and culture magazine The Devil Strip.

He has envisioned and revisioned his creative expression countless times, building a steady following for a sound where hip-hop meets alternative rock, with influences like Kid Cudi, Tame Impala and St. Vincent. Nobody Cares News is the umbrella brand for all of his work in music, graphic design, live performance and journalism. He is also one half of the duo Free Black!, which played Akron's bicentennial celebration at Lock 3 Park in 2025.

Coco's Chalky Paints

Location

Coco's Chalky Paints

530 Euclid Ave., Suite 44, Cleveland, OH, 44115

Coco's Chalky Paints was Hikia "Coco" Dixon's chalk paint shop in downtown Cleveland's 5th Street Arcades. She opened it in 2018 to sell her own chalk powder, which turns any paint into chalk paint, and showed it off on secondhand furniture she upcycled and painted herself. In 2020 she took over about 20,000 square feet of vacant arcade space, adding a plant shop, a furniture showroom, a 250-person event and workshop space, and low-cost private studios for Black and Brown business owners. The business later grew into Coco's Selfie Space in the same arcade, which still sells Coco's Chalky Powder.
