Ivan Schwarz

Producer; former president, Greater Cleveland Film Commission

Ivan Schwarz is a producer and location manager with more than 30 years in film and television. Before coming to Cleveland from Los Angeles he worked on "Wild at Heart," "From the Earth to the Moon," "Entourage," "The Comeback," "My Name Is Earl" and Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg's "Band of Brothers," which earned him a Golden Globe.

From 2006 to 2019 he led the Greater Cleveland Film Commission, the nonprofit that works to bring jobs and economic impact to Northeast Ohio by growing a lasting media production industry. After Ohio's Motion Picture Tax Credit passed in 2009, more than 110 productions shot in Cleveland, among them "The Avengers," "Captain America: The Winter Soldier," "Draft Day," "The Fate of the Furious" and "White Boy Rick." He also helped secure funding for Cleveland State University's film school. He stepped down in July 2019 to focus on his own independent production company.

About this event

Moving to Cleveland from LA, Ivan Schwarz has been on a mission to build the film industry in Northeast Ohio, and he’s been quite successful in attracting blockbuster film productions from the biggest Hollywood based studios. The work is however far from over with more jobs, industry, and infrastructure to be built. He talks about siloed leadership in our communities, craft beer, and the opportunity that is available if everyone works together to say yes, to everything.
