Bloom Bakery
Former downtown Cleveland social-enterprise bakery
About the organization
Bloom Bakery was an artisan bakery and cafe in downtown Cleveland, run as a social venture of the nonprofit Towards Employment. It opened in 2016 and offered paid internships, training and jobs to people who had trouble finding work, including people coming home from prison and people on public assistance. Bloom baked bread and pastries, served breakfast and lunch, and catered for downtown offices from two cafes, at 200 Public Square and at 1938 Euclid Avenue in the Campus District near Cleveland State University.
Towards Employment closed both locations in November 2019. The Campus District space reopened in 2021 as Oanest Bakery, carrying on the same second-chance mission.
