Daniel Ortiz
Deputy Director of State Campaigns, CBPP
Daniel Ortiz is Deputy Director of State Campaigns on the State Fiscal Policy team at the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, where he provides strategic leadership for state revenue campaigns, builds tools and training for state advocates, and coordinates with partners across the State Priorities Partnership network.
A native of Lorain, Ohio, and a graduate of Oberlin College, he joined Policy Matters Ohio in 2016 as outreach director, developing programs that connected the institute's research with the community. In Cleveland he advocated for voting rights, a complete count in the 2020 Census and policies that increase equity and support vulnerable communities. Before returning to Ohio he led campaigns and managed partnerships across the Midwest and the South, working with the Democratic Party of Arkansas, MoveOn Political Action and Ohio Youth Voices. He draws on his experience as a teacher and as a campaign professional to connect research with community concerns.
Daniel has been a member of the Hispanic Roundtable and served on the boards of the Young Latino Network and Hispanic Alliance.
